Nice piece Sandra & you’d be very interested in the book, ‘Uncovering Mindfulness: In Search of a Life More Meaningful’ and in particular Chapter two which dives deep into the roots and shoots of Mindfulness’ .

It covers much of the ground that you detail in your article, including ‘Suchness’ & ‘Full Emptiness’ (Sanskrit), which Buddha picked-up on referring to himself as Tathagata, or “One who has arrived at Suchness”, and then including ‘Right Mindfulness’ as the 7th part of the ‘Eightfold Path of Buddhism.”

Buddha also spoke of the four frames of Mindfulness - Kayasati/Vedenasati/ Cittasati/& Dhamnasati.

Chapter two though also goes beyond the links with Hindusim and Buddhism, to explore Mindfulness’s links to and influence on Doaism, Christianity & Judaism, and Islam down the ages, and through to Jewish contemplative practices and the Kabbalah, and centering prayer in closed monastic communities in the Middle Ages.

And then it gets really interesting when it ventures into Hegel and Van Morrison.

Worth a read, perhaps 🤔 Mai Oui 😀👍
