Following A Worldwide Pandemic What Do Leaders Now Need To Learn To ‘Burn Bright, Not Out?’

First Things First

Today we are living with the:

  • Discombobulating effects of a Coronavirus Pandemic; the
  • Staggering impact of a growing Mental Health Crisis
  • Galloping Inequality; &
  • Plummeting Social & Political Trust.

And during the current Coronavirus Pandemic we have all become crisis managers, whilst some of us have been leaders in a crisis that hasn’t followed a traditional management or leadership playbook.

We are in a new reality; an era of uncertainty and a series of never-ending crisis that will continue to threaten on many fronts, whether it’s the emergence of yet another coronavirus variant, the effects of climate change, globalisation, or growing inequality.

And a lack of trust in our political, economic and social institutions is certainly nothing new, as we shall see!

So, these words authored by the Russian playwright Anton Chekov are rather apt:
